When to add structured data to my Shopify store

When should you add structured data while you’re building out a site?

You should make sure your Shopify store has structured data if both of these are true.

  1. Your store is public now and Google could see it (i.e. not password protected) and
  2. You’re going to make SEO a long-term strategy.

Even if your store isn’t 100% ready, adding structured data now will allow Google to see the data. During Google's analysis, they'll look to understand what your site is all about. You can keep working on your store at the same time as Google runs its analysis.

In fact, I encourage everyone to continue working on your site even after adding structured data because it doesn't work in a bubble. Your SEO can be impacted by a myriad of things so it's important to keep working on your site over time.

Adding new pages, new products, and more content are great signals to Google.
