A Shopify SEO app can't create quality content
Google loves content and for most stores, product descriptions are the bulk of their content. Some stores have collection descriptions or blog articles, but they are the minority. Mmm sounds like a content marketing opportunity.
Some Shopify apps can create a rough product description for you. Google’s algorithm is much smarter than any app and they will likely know that the content is not unique or high quality.
Google won’t penalize you for reusing the content (that’s a common misconception). But you'll have a harder time ranking with reused content. It's better to write a few sentences of unique content than relying on generated content.
If you’re hoping your SEO app will generate content that will get you ranked, it may work. But you’ll only get a fraction of the results that you could have with original content.
Consider your product page content as an ongoing project you chip away at over time.
Write a few sentences and publish it! Don’t get intimidated by the amount of content you "should" have. Focus on getting something on the page first. Then as you have time, go back and expand the content as you can.
When creating your description, talk about both the features and benefits of your product.
- Feature (what something is): waterproof
- Benefit (what the feature does): keeps you dry
Putting that together: The waterproof material will keep your head dry all day.
Don't overthink content creation. It's a copywriting exercise that you can and will rewrite multiple times. It's better to ship something than nothing at all.
In the end, it's up to Google's algorithm how your content performs in search results. It's our job to make it as easy as possible for Google.
