How Rich Results will enhance your search results

By Ilana Davis

Getting Google to award you with Rich Results can benefit your business in various ways.

Let’s take a look at a search I did for stickers.

It may be hard to spot the differences in these four results. Each one is showing different types of results, with most of them showing different types of Rich Results that Google uses.

Etsy is very plain and shows what a normal search result looks like without any search enhancements.

Sticker Mule is great. The orange stars really attract the eye and you can see that 94,680 people have rated it for a rating of 4.9. They also show prices starting from $9.00. This is very strong social proof.

Moo also has a great result. Not only do they have the orange stars with a 4.8 rating and 809 reviews, they also show a price range. This could be a game changer for markets where prices range widely for similar products.

Vista Print has a similar snippet as Moo and Sticker Mule, but with one addition. Notice how Google is showing the product is “In stock”. This is a powerful indicator that can make your store clickable, especially for popular products that no one can keep in stock for long.

Take a look at this same search I did for stickers, but in Google Image Search.

StickerYou is so perfect. The tag looking icon on the left shows there is more information available for this product and it says “In stock” right in the search result. As you click on the image, you find the 4.9 star rating from 6,524 reviews, the price of $9.99 and the “In stock” notification. The difference between Google Search and Google Image Search is the Brand name is also being displayed. This is fantastic for stores who sell other brands and their own especially for products where images are an essential piece of the buying process.

All of this extra data does one thing for your store:

It gets more qualified buyers in.

Rich Results don’t affect your ranking. If you’re at #5, getting Rich Results setup won’t jump your site up to #2.

But of the 10 results on a page, your store’s listing will pop. For example, instead of getting 11% of the search traffic for a term, you might get 65%. Even down at the 5th spot.

It doesn’t end there.

When your product, its rating, prices, and stock availability are all shown in the organic results, your visitor is going to be primed to buy. They don’t need to comparison shop because you’ve already told them the price. They already see how many other people have bought so they don’t need to research your company as much.

They’re coming to your store just to click the ‘add to cart’ button and buy.

That’s the best kind of traffic you can get.

This is just an example of what Google might include in your Rich Results, but it all depends on if you’re sharing the data with Google. If your store doesn’t make this data easy for Google to read or you’re missing some data, Google won’t show it. Instead they’ll show a basic result for your store.

In a competitive market, just think how poorly your store’s listing would look in the search results compared to these results.
